Basic Rules:

1. RESPECT EACH MEMBER

Members are expected to treat each other with dignity and respect. Heated debates are welcome but messages which descend to personal insults, name-calling, or similar abuse will be deleted. If you don’t agree with what someone posted, debate their post, not the person who posted it.

* There is absolutely no excuse to be rude, confrontational, or hostile when posting.

2. RESPECT OF OPINION

Members should respect everyone's opinion.

* The moderators shall be the ones who will deal with that user.

3. TROLLING

Trolling is posting with the intention of causing a negative reaction in an individual or group of people. This can take the form of senselessly spamming or just a simple post with a double meaning intended to provoke an individual or a group. A more directed form of trolling is posting something you know that will likely offend an individual or group of people. If you don't have any serious things to contribute to the conversation, stay out of it. In other words, do not post anything intended to provoke someone into replying negatively. The forum is intended to be a place where the members of the UCLM community can collectively come and associate. Therefore, anything that deliberately sets out to disrupt that will not be tolerated and is cause for discipline above and beyond the usual notice.

* Violators will receive a warning from the moderators.

4. FLAMING

Flaming is any speech or inference, direct or indirect, which represents a personal attack against another individual or group of people. Do not insult other members for their ideas or opinions no matter how ridiculous they may be. Debates are fine, but argue with the point, not the person. Harassment and teasing forum individuals, or group of people within the forum are not allowed. Sarcastic remarks will not be tolerated. This forum is open for all and everyone must respect the ideas of each member. Flaming and any derogatory comments based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or nationality can get you banned. Any post found to be flaming another member or group of people is cause for discipline above and beyond the usual warning.

* Violators will receive a warning from the moderators.

5. TOPIC DECENCY

Trash talking, using of foul, vulgar, obscene, and profane language are not allowed. Nonsense fights are not allowed. Topics consisting of indecent words shall be immediately edited/deleted or have its thread locked. Uploading images containing nudity, disturbing images and the likes are strictly prohibited. Such posts shall be immediately deleted by the moderators.Retaliation to any attempt of teasing and harassment will not be tolerated. Remember that the proper way of dealing with this, is by reporting them to the moderators. Only the moderators have the privilege of dealing with such violators.

* Violators will receive a warning from the moderators.

6. SPAMMING AND FLOODING

Make sure your post makes sense and is on topic. Short, meaningless, and off-topic posts in an attempt to increase post count is strictly forbidden. Other forms of SPAMS are unsolicited electronic junk mail, junk newsgroup postings, redundant posts, multiple posts, advertisements and invites without any relation to a particular topic. Do not flood a particular thread with similar messages. Edit them. Worthless posts with no content and nonsensical posts eat up space and waste everyone's time. One-word replies (like “OK”, “YEAH”, “YES”, “NO”, smiley, etc), are more appropriate in chat rooms. Members who do this normally just want to increase their number of posts. This is a forum where we would like to hear your sensible views regarding a certain topic. Moderators can automatically delete spam and flood posts.

* Violators will receive a warning from the moderators.

7. USE OF TRICK LINKS AND PRANKING

Trick links (saying a link will show someone something, but then actually linking to something else) are not allowed. Members posting trick links of a malicious nature (such as viruses or bugs) will be severely punished, even for the first offense. Pranking is also not allowed. Pranking is posting anything which you claim is truthful even though you know it to be false.

* Moderators will determine the degree of violation and will take the necessary disciplinary action. Violators can be warned, have their accounts suspended, or their accounts banned depending on the extent of violation.

8. TOPIC RELEVANCE

Topics with different titles, but is or almost the same with an existing topic shall be either be merged (w/ the 1st thread) or locked or deleted (if topics are the same in verbatim) upon the approval/initiative of the moderators. Irrelevant topics will also be closed and the moderator will leave a notice to the topic starter. If a thread has been locked by the moderators, any new threads that attempt to continue the part of the discussion that caused the previous thread to be locked will also be deleted/locked. Posts that are accidentally or intentionally posted repetitively will also be deleted.

* Violators with multiple infractions will receive a warning from the moderators.
